Washers

The role of washers is to evenly distribute the pressure of the screw and protect the material against deformation or damage. Washers are used to separate a bolt or a nut from the connected element, which also translates into a stable connection and prevents unwanted loosening. In addition to flat washers, there are, for example, spring washers or sealing washers, which are used to block the bolt connections and protect them against adverse external conditions.

The washers also influence the distribution of the contact pressure when a bolt is tightened firmly against a delicate structure.
